creating multiplying churches
in the neighborhoods.
Welcome to Project SoIL
We are a group of average folks who are loved and redeemed by God, want to love God and love people well, and who believe getting to know and following Jesus is the key to everything true, good and beautiful.
We come from a lot of places with varying backgrounds, but we are united in this: Jesus has sent us to the St. Louis Metro East area to share the love of God and the fellowship of His church with our neighbors, coworkers and friends.
This site tells our story.
We have really important news!
It is now possible for ordinary men and women like you and me to live in the presence and under the authority of the God of the universe.
We are passing on to you as most important what we also received from the Lord: that Jesus the Messiah died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to those who had been His closest friends and disciples. Then he appeared to many others, even 500 at one time. Then, over the centuries He has been alive in His people. And last of all, in our day, He has sent us to be His ambassadors and to proclaim that God wants to heal you, restore you, be reconciled to you, and lead you into the life you’ve always wanted!
This is what drives us…
A Gospel of Freedom
As our Creator, God knows what ties us down and what sets us free. Life with Him is real life.
A Great Commission
As our King, Jesus gives us an important mission: to teach others about Him and His Kingdom.
1 Thessalonians 2:2-13
A Place to Belong
We are pleased to share with you not only the great new of God, but also our very lives.
2 Corinthians 5:11-21
A Glorious Reconciliation
We are Jesus’ ambassadors. God says that He makes His appeal through us: be reconciled to God.
“Turn away from all the empty things you’ve been trying, because the kingdom of heaven has come near! Come to me, rely on me, and I will give you real life that will never end.”– Jesus (paraphrased from Matthew 3:2, John 7:38, etc)
I’ve been dreaming about it since we first felt called to plant a church. I can’t even really explain why. But now that we’ve done it for the first time, I’m more convinced than ever that this is going to be an annual thing. I’d like us to be known for it in our community.Continue reading “Christmas Cookies, Caroling and Community”
The plan: Move 300 miles away to help plant a neighborhood church. The method: Practice radical hospitality, reaching out to our new neighbors and inviting them to be part of our lives and our house church, which will meet in the pastor’s home a few blocks away. (“Come over any time…Share a meal with us…LetContinue reading “How to Meet Your Neighbors (even when there’s a pandemic going on)”
We are moving to Southern Illinois five weeks from today. Only five weeks! I can’t tell you how excited we are. We’ve already shared that the Lord has led us to plant a network of house churches. Our focus is on the proclamation of the gospel, discipleship, hospitality and reconciliation in the neighborhoods. At someContinue reading “Where should we plant our neighborhood church?”
